Digital Signage Summit Europe exhibits positive signs Digital Signage Summit Europe

is expanding its reach and influ- ence with the announcement of an ambitious development plan for its next two-day event. The 11th edition of DSS Europe will make its debut in the prestigious ICM - Internationales Congress Center München on 5-6 July 2017. In addition to a two-day conference programme, DSS Europe 2017 will feature an ex- panded exhibition area showcas- ing leading digital signage manu- facturers, products and solutions in a venue ideally suited for this purpose. For the first time in the event’s history, visitors will have the option to attend either the exhibition show floor, the confer- ence or both.

DSS Europe 2017 is a joint venture between Integrated Sys- tems Events, the producers of the ISE tradeshow, and Invid- is Consulting, a leading digital signage consultancy. Together they produce the Digital Signage Summit Series of events which

includes DSS at ISE (Amster- dam); DSS MENA (Dubai); DSS Russia (Moscow); DSS InfoComm (Orlando); DSS Brazil (Sao Paulo); DSS Mex- ico (Mexico City) and DSS Africa (Johannesburg). The DSS Europe 2017 event is the signature conference of the series.

Integrated Systems Events Managing Director Mike Blackman commented: “The move to the ICM was primarily due to the success of DSS Eu- rope - we had simply outgrown our

previous venue. Plus,

there was a desire from dele- gates, sponsors and exhibitors that we take the event to the next level and reach out to the wider digital signage and DooH community. The reloca- tion has allowed us to create a ‘standalone’ exhibition within DSS Europe and the oppor- tunity for greater numbers of people to attend it. At the same time, we are developing

ISE figures point to

regional growth Organisers of ISE 2017 have pub- lished a comprehensive report on the attendance of the event. At 73,413, the overall registered attendees to ISE 2017 increased by 11.7% when compared to ISE 2016. This figure includes both exhibitor personnel and attendees to the show. 41% of the total attendance visited the show for the first time, a slight increase (+2%) when compared to ISE 2016. On average, each new visitor to ISE 2017 spent 1.6 days at the show, slightly less than the time spent by returning attendees. Over 10% of first time attendees at the show were ‘end users’, a key demographic for the

exhibitor target audience. The

number of ‘end customer’ attendees is growing as an overall percentage of first-time ISE attendees, although over 26% of the ‘first timers’ were in- tegrators and installers. As the world’s leading AV event, ISE attracts a high percentage of decision makers. 79% of ISE 2017 attendees reported that they could recommend or authorise purchases. In fact, al- most 35% of attendees to ISE 2017 are able to authorise or recommend expenditure of over €1,000,000 per annum. Only 6% of attendees autho- rise expenditure of less than €10,000. Visitors to ISE 2017 were interested in a broad spectrum of technologies, with the leaders including: Cabling,

Connectors & Signal Management 24,5 %, Conferencing & Collabora- tion 23,0 %; Control Systems 30,1 %; Digital Signage 37,7 %; Home Auto- mation 21,9 %; Interactive Displays 24,8 %; IP and Network Distribution 24,3 %; Large-Scale Display 21,5 %; Presentation Systems 24,3 %; Pro- jection Screens 27,7 %; Streaming Media 22,5 %; Video Projection & Display 39,1 %; and Wireless Com- munication 26,1 %.

The number of exhibitors totalled 1,192, with an additional 234 co-ex- hibitors. Of these there were 204 first time exhibitors. Some 177 countries were represented. The estimated av- erage number of unique sales leads generated by exhibitors stood at 418.4, with 89.5% of exhibitors say- ing that making new connections was the primary reason for participating in the show. Not surprisingly then, the percentage of ISE 2017 exhibitors that are “sure” or “very likely” to re- turn to ISE was 94.2%

One of the key benefits to exhibitors of ISE is the long-tail benefit offered by press coverage of exhibiting. ISE 2017 saw the largest ever repre- sentation of international trade and consumer media attending the show. In total, 630 print, digital and broad- cast media personnel from 43 coun- tries were in attendance.

and investing in the conference so that its value continues to grow year on year.”

The conference will take place directly above the exhibi- tion floor and will feature over 40 of the world’s leading digi- tal signage and DooH thought leaders and experts. The con- tent theme for 2017 is ‘Digi- tal Signage at the Crossroads – New Technologies, Changing Demands and Market Consoli- dations’. Day One’s twin-tracks will cover DooH and Smart Cit- ies while Day Two will explore Digital Signage and Retail Technology.

As in previous years, the conference will feature a wide variety of presentations, case studies and roundtables, an awards ceremony and the launch of the Invidis Digital Signage Yearbook. A key com- ponent of DSS Europe 2017 will be the provision for exten- sive networking between dele- gates, sponsors and exhibitors.

invidis consulting Managing Di- rector Florian Rotberg will chair the event and will also present a keynote speech.

Rotberg said: “This year’s DSS Europe will deliver the most insightful programme so far in a period in the industry when technology providers are being challenged with cre- ating new solutions for busi- ness, homes and cities. It’s an exciting time and a period where specialist information and insight is invaluable. We will shine a spotlight on the key areas of the marketplace and the opportunities that are available.” Other confirmed speakers include: Stewart Cad- dick, Connectiv; Bob Raikes, Meko; Thomas Just Rasmus- sen, Intersport Group and Ab- dul Bakhani, Digital Communi- cation LLC.
