Mirror, mirror on the wall… Bright eyes

Optometrist Ayshah Edney offers the following advice to maintain good eyesight. 1. Have regular eye examinations. 2. Stop smoking as smoking has been linked to AMD (the leading cause of blindness in the UK) and cataracts. 3. Eat a diet that is rich in leafy greens and coloured fruit and vegetables and maintain a healthy weight. This may reduce your risk of suffering AMD. 4. Opticians are best placed to advise on, supply and fi t sunglasses. Counterfeited and grey market sunglasses may not meet the UV protection standards required, so it is important to buy your sunglasses from an optician or reputable retailer. • For more information, visit Ayshah Edney Bsc (Hons) MCOptom, Edney & Edney, 35 Monson Road, Tunbridge Wells TN1 1LS or call 01892 517986.
