ner, which they started working on last Fall. In the Fall, they made repairs to the after deck and now they are fi nishing up painting her and she will be launched later this spring so she can start doing charters out of Portland Harbor.
Finestkind Boat Yard in Harpswell has several interesting projects underway. In one bay, they have a 34 foot Vinny
Cavanaugh designed and built cruiser. They are adding a fl ybridge along with an electric windlass and then they will do her annual maintenance. In the big bay, they have a 36 foot Ma-
rine Trader, which has been totally rebuilt over the last several years, mostly by her owner. This year they stripped the bottom, repaired so old damage, and then given a barrier coat. The owner is working on the interior and the main salon and is almost done. Working is also being done on the exterior getting it ready for paint and the Boman windows are already to go in. At the same time they were looking for a small generator. They are planning to launch her this Spring. Another project this winter was on a
Hinckley Bermuda 40, which was in to have her bottom redone. She was soda blasted and then given an epoxy barrier coat. A Hobie 16 foot catamaran came in for some repairs and paint. They have a South Shore 34 lobster boat coming in for a new platform and reconfi g- uring the exhaust system.
Custom Composites in Bath have been
busy all winter. They are doing some work for Booth-
bay Harbor Shipyard, which consists of building panels for the charter boat BALMY DAYS. These panels are for the rear of the cabin and one of them, a side panel is 6 x 32 feet. Another aspect of this project will be building panels for her side decks and then installing them. These will be 1 inch thick. They will also assist in doing other glasswork on this boat. Another project they are working on,
this one at Yachting Solutions in Rockport, is doing some glasswork on a Huckins. This work is on the interior aspect of the cold moulded hull including fl oor timbers and longitudinals. They will also do the exterior which will consist of three layers, 6 and 10 ounce and then covered with a veil. At Brooklin Boat Yard in Brooklin, they
are doing some parts for the 72 foot sailboat. They have built covers for the boxes, a table, sheave boxes, and bowsprit. On the fl oor in the shop, was a very
interesting project, which is for Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The Museum is creating a replica of a lighthouse and the

At Samoset Boat Works, they are near-
ing completion on some engine work on a RP 35 lobster boat. She has been repowered with a 365 hp John Deere. They have also modifi ed the cockpit sole so that it is level at the helm station. Other work has included a larger Pacer pump, a hydraulic tank and a custom engine box. Next in will be a Young Brothers 45,
built by Lash. She needs some repair work done to her trunk cabin and change her from a wet to dry exhaust system. This will be followed by a 46 foot
Mussel Ridge hull. She is being fi nished out as a split wheel lobster boat with an open transom and will be powered with an 850 hp Scania.
John’s Bay Boat Company in South Bristol has two wooden boats underway. The 42 foot cabin cruiser is nearly com-
plete with the exception of details, systems and paint. She is being built for a customer from Friendship and will be launched in May.
In the next bay, is a 47 foot lobster
