Perret 2183. Frances Havergal (1836-1879) travelled in Switzerland, and made several climbs. She wrote religious poetry and hymns, much of which was published after her death. This posthumous collection of Havergal’s poetry is illustrated with Alpine views of Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Jungfrau and the Weishorn.

Wäber 65; Perret 2293. Hügi (1791-1855), a geologist and professor of natural science in Solothurn, carried out geological studies from 1827-30 based on a cabin on the lower Aar glacier. In 1829 he made an attempt on the Finsteraarhorn, stopping short of the summit which was reached by his guides. His lectures on Alpine researches, given in Solothurn, were published in the present work.
