Grow the Seeds of Creativity Through Hand Drumming H

armonizing: Art, Drumming and the Natural Rhythms That Sur- round Us, is a one-day workshop from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 26, led by Sherry and Tom Gingras of DRUMZ. The event is designed to deepen ap- preciation of the self and the seeds of creativity that reside within, as well as explore humans’ innate connection to nature, the natural rhythms around us, and our community relationships. Through artistic expression and hand drumming in a beautiful natural setting in the Texas Hill Country, participants will explore and gain insight as expand- ed ecological beings. Since the beginning of time, people have gathered in gratitude to celebrate their authentic connections to their natural communities through the creative pathways of artistic expression, music and movement. The workshop is set in a pond-side garden home in

Tom and Sherry Gingras

Briarcliff. Drums and art supplies will be provided, and no artistic or musical experience is necessary. The workshop is limited to 10 people, and a vegetarian lunch will be served. Sherry is the owner of DRUMZ world percussion store and a hand-drumming teacher in the Austin community for nearly 20 years. She leads drum classes, workshops and weekend retreats. She believes that rhythm and hand drum- ming facilitate the flowering of the human spirit and provide a pathway for a vibrant experience of harmony within and with each other and the rhythms of the natural world. Tom has over 40 years experience as a sculptor, mu- sician and author, and he has been a professor at Austin Community College for 28 years teaching creativity/design classes, art metals, metal sculpture and advanced sculpture. His book, The Art Of Welded Sculpture, is available on Amazon.com.

Cost: $125. For more information or to reserve a space, email SDrumz@Austin.rr.com or visit DrumzAustin.com. See ad, page 9.
