other intellectual studies, such as ethics; the hope for social justice; history, where Quakers demonstrated an honest form of economics in the 19th century; sociology, of the interdependence within a harmonious society; psychology, that employees require dignity to become properly motivated; and philosophy, that human beings have needs for moral beliefs quite unknown to Danny. TV economists, like Danny, are not
fully developed humans - mentally or morally.

STUNTED ECONOMICS
DEAR SIR, Jeremy Corbyn made a TV speech
stating that Britain was an unjust society because of the huge disparity in incomes, so he proposed a period of consultation, giving a variety of suggestions to correct this, which seemed clear
enough.
The TV commentators immediately condemned that as ‘muddled thinking’. Then Danny Blanchflower, a very
famous economist, came on air to scorn all Jeremy’s thinking as hopeless and unworkable, because Danny knows that all human beings are out for number one. No shareholders would invest in companies that had an ethical pay policy involving employees. The rich directors who had all the power would continue to reward themselves in millions PA, and employees must submit. That is how
humans act. Danny’s fellow economists are an
even more eloquent but inverted argument for radical reform of our deplorable society than the man of principle, the wiser and compassionate Corbyn, because they reveal to the world their own moral depravity in destroying the lives of innocent people. If the economists’ view of human life is accurate, of rats in a rat race, then it is only because they have made it so. Danny is completely ignorant of
running from Wednesday (Jan 25) until March 1 - two poignant, romantic dates in the Welsh calendar - to raise money to enable Welsh Hearts Calonnau Cymru to hold heart screening sessions and place life-saving defibrillators in communities across Wales. Welsh Hearts are encouraging
everyone in Wales to go red any time between the two dates to help us to continue to save lives! From having a ‘Wear Red Day’ in the office, to selling red themed cakes, to painting your face red for the day or even sitting in a bath of red custard! Whatever you choose to do, you could help Welsh Hearts to place
defibrillators and hold heart screening sessions in your community! Could you join in on the fun and support Wales’ leading heart charity? Whether you do something red at work, at your local pub or restaurant or with family and friends, your support will make a real different here in Wales. Hundreds die each year from an
undiagnosed heart condition – that’s hundreds too many. A simple ECG (electrocardiogram) will identify most cardiac abnormalities so that conditions can be managed. This is why in addition to our work of placing life-saving defibrillators in the community, Welsh Hearts have also launched the Heart Screening Wales programme. Placing a defibrillator in the
community costs £1,500 and a just one heart screening session costs £6,000! Therefore we really need and would really appreciate your support. You can find more ideas on what do
in our #lovemyheart fundraising pack, which can be found at

TALKING BOOK
DEAR SIR, Reading is such an important part
of my life that I can’t imagine not being able to pick up a new book or read an old favourite. Thanks to RNIB’s (Royal National
Institute of Blind People) Talking Books service, sight loss doesn’t have to mean losing access to the world of books. The Talking Books service has
revolutionised reading for people with sight loss since it launched in 1935 to help soldiers who had been blinded in the First World War, and it continues to provide more than one million audio books every year, free of charge. That’s why I’m supporting RNIB’s
‘Sponsor a Talking Book’ fundraising drive, which aims to raise £1m to produce hundreds of new accessible books and give thousands more blind and partially- sighted people the gift of reading. It’s really easy to make a difference.
Simply create a JustGiving page, select your fundraising total – £2,500 for an adult book and £1,500 for a children’s book – and as you carry out activities, watch your total rise! Once you’ve hit your target, you can even add a personal dedication to your chosen book. I’m a big believer in the power of a
good story. Join me in supporting RNIB and help change lives for the better. For more information or to sponsor a
