Frank Bear has itchy feet
Frank Bear (promoting End Polio Now) is off on his travels again.
Having already visited Prague – the French Alps – the Isle of Wight – Key West USA – and South Africa is now off to Tenerife and who knows where after that.
Lutterworth Rotary feel that after 32 years of Rotary launching its appeal for eradicating Polio around the world it should not be allowed to lose its profile with the public.
Before Rotary and now the Bill Gates Foundation took on the task of Polio Eradication – 350,000 people – (nearly all of them children) – were paralysed by polio every year. But as the fear of polio wanes so does awareness of the disease.
Now more than ever it is vitally important to keep that awareness high and to push “polio eradication” to the top of the publics agenda and our governments priorities. We need to make sure the world knows that our work to eradicate polio isn’t over yet, but that Rotary is in it to the end to totally eradicate this dreadful disease across the world.
