School Buses:

Te Terrorism Target On June 28, School Transportation News and security expert Bret

E. Brooks of Gray Ram Tactical, LLC presented a one-hour webinar, available at http://stnonline.com/go/8x, on the impact of terrorism on student transportation. Brooks will further expand on the subject during a two-hour training session held at STN EXPO. Here are some perspectives from webinar attendees:

“Tis was very interesting. I’m new to all of this. I’m from a smaller

city, but with a lot of immigrants. We serve the poor as a Head Start program. I’m in charge of a small fleet of five short buses. I think I will have my drivers watch this too. Tank you for the insight.”

—Diane Hulstein, transportation coordinator, SMOC Head Start “I enjoyed the presentation. I felt that the presenter was clear and

knowledgeable about the subject matter. Te webinar was very in- formative. Someone like Mr. Brooks needs to speak to school boards across the country to help them understand the importance of this subject. Many school systems forget about the transportation employ- ees when they talk about school safety.”

—Carol Robinson, bus driver, Granville County Public Schools

“I was hoping for more specific strategies that school districts or bus companies could use to deal with incidents that occur. More ideas/training for district officials, drivers, bus contractors regarding how to watch for planning and rehearsals that might be taking place. Ways that local law enforcement could communicate with district of- ficials and bus contractors about the need for vigilance and awareness, given the times.”

—Janice Zmrazek, consultant, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

“Excellent presentation, we never know what we are going to face and being prepared is always good. Tank you again.”

—Hector Franco, team leader, ESC 19
