Marquis & Carver appoint Denison Yacht Sales to serve Southern and Central California

PULASKII, Wisc — Denison Yacht Sales has been appointed by Marquis and Carver Yachts to be the Southern and Central Californian dealer. Denison Yacht Sales is currently the Marquis and Carver dealer selling and servicing the boaters of South Florida. “With three key locations in Marina

del Rey, Newport Beach and San Diego, Denison Yachts Sales offers the per- fect combination of sales and service Californian boaters are searching for - a boat with a difference they can see, and quality they can feel,” said Rob Parmentier, Marquis and Carver Yachts, president and CEO. Denison will serve Marquis and Carver

owners and prospective owners from the California Mexican border north to the Monterey peninsula. “The interest level in Carver and

Marquis Yachts in South Florida has been outstanding. Therefore, it was only natural for us to expand our Marquis and Carver presence to our Southern California loca- tions when we were asked by Rob,” stated Bob Denison, president of Denison Yacht Sales. “When we too heard of the past success of the former dealer in this market area, we truly felt we hit a home run and are expecting great things to happen for both Denison and our boatbuilder partner.” Denison Yacht Sales will have their fi rst

boat, a Carver C37 Coupe, on display at the upcoming Newport Beach Boat Show May 12 - 15 at Lido Village in Newport Beach. To learn more information on Denison Yacht Sales, visit DenisonYachtSales.com.

Balboa Yacht Club to host 2017 Youth Match Racing World Championships

NEWPORT BEACH — World Sailing has announced Balboa Yacht Club will host the 2017 Youth Match Racing Worlds, continu- ing in its strong history of hosting such Youth Match Racing regattas. Balboa YC is the founder and host of the oldest continually held Youth Match Race event in the world, the Governor’s Cup, which will celebrate its 50th anni- versary in July 2016. In honor of that milestone, the club’s members and friends funded the design and construction of 12 new Governor’s Cup 22s, which will be fi rst used in event and in next year’s World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship. The new boats to be used in the World Championship are high performance, three or four person sloops designed by noted yacht designer Alan Andrews and feature fl at top mains, carbon fi ber rigs, fractional rigs with masthead spinnakers. The choice of venue was made by an

Evaluation Panel who reviewed applica- tions received in October 2015. The panel

then made their recommendation to World Sailing’s Executive Committee who endorsed the recommendation.

Fisherman key in freeing entangled humpback whale

MOSS LANDING — Offi cials say a fi sher- man spotted a distressed humpback whale that was entangled in the Monterey Bay and followed the animal until rescuers arrived, helping to save its life. California Whale Rescue director Kathy

Koontz told the Monterey Herald the whale would have died if the fi sherman John Favazza hadn’t stayed with it. She says Favazza was on his boat when

he saw the 35-foot-long humpback whale entangled with crabbing gear.

The whale had nylon rope from a crab

trap tangled around its mouth and other parts of its body. A team worked for fi ve hours until to free the animal April 21. Kootnz says without help the whale would have died from her injuries.
