Like its neighbouring forces, the City of London Police has a responsibility towards those who wish to exercise the right everyone has to protest lawfully. In policing a march or protest, the police must balance the right to protest peacefully with the right of individuals and companies to go about their daily business. While injunctions can be brought that ban or limit the activities of protesters, it should be remembered that they are civil rather than criminal orders and that any breach is a civil matter.
