A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.

As we turn the calendar over to another year, our focus shifts to the resolutions and personal goals we set for the year ahead. Before you give yourself a long list of resolutions for 2017, turn your focus inwards and be mindful of what you really want and positive changes are sure to follow. Too often our resolutions are abandoned within a couple months because we have not taken a closer look at why we want to change. Make sure you are setting goals for yourself that will make you feel good on the inside, not what looks good to everyone on the outside. Whether that’s setting aside 10 minutes a day to quiet your mind and reset, reading more, or seeking out new places and experiences, here are some ways to refresh and reset your body and your mind, Japanese style.

You are sure to be inspired by this quirky art museum in Towada! De ned by a large chrysanthemum covered rearing horse just outside its entrance, this delightfully modern art center displays permanent and rotating exhibits in both indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces. The exhibition rooms are interspersed throughout the facility and connected to each other by glass corridors with outdoor exhibitions peppered along the route. Even if you have been before, there is always something new and thought provoking around the corner!
