When communities are strong, people thrive. A robust, resilient community creates a sense of belonging, security and wellbeing for those who live within it. Uniting Communities is committed to strengthening communities in South Australia. Our purpose is to build compassionate, respectful and just communities which help people to realise their potential and live the best lives they can.


Our services, advocacy and community building activities are central to achieving this. We believe we must help people to build the skills needed to overcome diversity; connect people who are vulnerable to communities which can offer support and care; and create better social and public policy by advocating for change and developing solutions to address inequality and disadvantage.


OUR SERVICES


Uniting Communities offers more than 90 services from 85 sites across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia. With a team of more than 1500 staff and volunteers, we work to support people of all ages and backgrounds who come across challenges in their lives.


Our diverse range of services includes Lifeline Adelaide’s specialist telephone and online support for people in crisis; telephone helpline support for people experiencing homelessness through the unique Homelessness Gateway Service; the Streetlink Youth Health Service for young people who are homeless or at risk; emergency support and the Hopes Café community initiative through our Eastern Services team; and the Rubys program for young people and families working to improve their relationships.


We also support community-led initiatives through small grants and community development.


OUR FUTURE


The redevelopment of Uniting Communities’ headquarters in the heart of the Adelaide CBD will create a 20-storey, multi-use building, bringing together our extensive service offering and also providing specialist disability long-term rental and respite accommodation, along with unique city retirement living and additional office, hospitality and community spaces.


This exciting project will offer enormous benefits to a range of people, including our customers supporters, staff and the wider community, and will celebrate our commitment to diversity and to building strong, inclusive communities.
