Thanksgiving of Trucking ATA gives thanks for drivers during National Truck Driving Week By ATR Staff The Arkansas Trucking Association

honored the 17 year tradition of serv- ing lunch to and shaking hands with truck drivers in North Little Rock on September 15 during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (September 13–19). ATA partnered with TA Petro Stopping Center to celebrate and pub- licly thank the professional men and women who deliver America’s freight. The parking lot of TA Petro Stopping Center on I-40 was full of tents, volun- teers and 750 hot meals. Drivers were greeted with goodie bags and hamburg- ers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches straight from the grill. Country musi- cian Lindsay Lawler was back in town for her truck stop tour and followed local musician and North Little Rock student Bree Ogden to entertain while visitors played games and won raffle prizes.

Twenty-three (23) corporate

members of the Arkansas Trucking Association contributed food, refresh- ments, goodies and volunteers for the event. ATA president Shannon Newton

said, “It is important to remind the public of truck drivers’ enormous impact on our way of life. But most of all, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is the Thanksgiving of the truck- ing world. We have so much to thank truck drivers for—food, medicine, school supplies, the very bricks and mortar that hold rooves over our heads. Their commitment to safety and professional- ism is worth our gratitude every day.” ATA would like to extend its appre-

ciation to the following companies which made the event possible and our gratitude evident to the drivers who attended:
