12 Maidstone Borough Council

Angela Woodhouse Head of Policy and Communications

What tasks and responsibilities does your job involve? I run several services for the council including communications, complaints, policy and information, electoral services and democratic services. I have responsibility for corporate governance and information management and also oversee major projects.

What do you most enjoy about your role? I work with brilliant people; I enjoy working directly with other officers, councillors and meeting residents. I particularly enjoy internal staff engagement events and running workshops to improve how we do things as a council.

What is the most difficult aspect of your everyday role? There are never enough hours in the day to get everything done, so I have to make sure I don't set too many things running at once!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I run, although this isn't always enjoyable! Recently my 7 year old has discovered monopoly, which has made for some fun but competitive afternoons!

What’s your favourite food? Anything my mum makes! I really enjoy a seafood linguine.

Which country have you always wanted to visit and why? Australia, such beautiful scenery!

If you had to pick a character to be from a book, TV series or historical figure, who would it be and why? Clarice Starling, from Silence of the Lambs, because of her resolve and determination.

Pick one word to describe yourself. Enthusiastic.
