Ross Dress for Less to open in Harbour View's Hampton Roads Crossing

Suffolk, Virginia – Ross Dress for Less (“Ross”) celebrated their first Suffolk location on Saturday, July 16th at 1011 University Boulevard, Suite 120, in Harbour View. A Grand Opening – Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held at 8:45 a.m., with Mayor Linda T. Johnson scheduled to be on hand for the event. The store officially opened to the public following the ceremony.

The new Ross store is approximately 25,000 SF and represents a capital investment of just under $1 million dollars. They will hire approximately 50 full and part time employees at that location.

Shoppers will find merchandise, including men’s, women’s and children’s name-brand clothing, at prices typically 20% to 60% lower than those at department and specialty stores. The store also stocks small furnishings, toys and games, luggage and jewelry.

The opening of the store is part of the retailer’s 2016 expansion program of about 70 new locations during the year. Ross, together with dd’s DISCOUNTS®, operates approximately 1,500 off-price apparel and home fashion stores, in 34 states, Washington D.C., and Guam.

“Suffolk’s growing retail tenant mix has transformed Harbour View into a shopping destination that our community is proud of,” said Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson. “Thank you to Ross for choosing Suffolk as your new home and we wish you much success.”

As part of the Grand Opening – Ribbon Cutting, Ross will make a donation to the Suffolk Boys & Girls Club organization.

Ross Dress for Less is the latest junior anchor to join the $20 million Hampton Roads Crossing mixed-use development. Store hours will be Monday –

SANJO Corte Fino to establish US headquarters in Virginia Beach

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that SANJO Corte Fino, a fineblanking manufacturer based in Barcelona Spain, will invest $17.5 million to establish a North American headquarters in the City of Virginia Beach. SANJO will supply specialty fineblanking metal components to STIHL Inc., also headquartered in Virginia Beach, as well as to tier-one automotive suppliers throughout North America. Virginia successfully competed against Kentucky for the project, which will create up to 85 new jobs over three years.

"Today is a big win for the City of Virginia Beach and the entire Hampton Roads region," said Governor McAuliffe. "SANJO's decision to locate its North American headquarters in Virginia Beach is a testament to the region's strong assets and outstanding workforce. We are proud to add another international company to the Commonwealth's growing corporate roster. SANJO will be a great partner in our efforts to diversify and build a new Virginia economy, and we look forward to their success."

"SANJO is a fantastic addition to the Virginia Beach business community," said Virginia Beach Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. This announcement is the culmination of several years of work by the City, SANJO and our regional and state allies including our friends at STIHL Inc."

The company designs and constructs progressive dies and stamping parts, assembles stamping parts, produces components with fineblanking and heat treatment processes, and performs final machining. SANJO currently exports to 27 countries across four continents.

The City of Virginia Beach worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to secure the project for Virginia. Governor McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Commonwealth's Opportunity Fund to assist the City with the project. The company will receive benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program. SANJO will also be eligible to receive sales and use tax exemptions on manufacturing equipment. Funding and services to support the company's employee training activities will also be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
