What an honor it has been to serve as Chairman of our TXTA during such a criti- cal time in the life of the association. The future we have worked to bring into focus not only honors the dedication of those who established and nurtured the organization for the past 84 years, but launches us into an era of expanding influ- ence and increased stability. We are at the beginning of the monumental task we have chosen to undertake which will include demolition of our existing associa- tion home at 700 East 11th Street and the construction of a multi-story building in its place which we will call our new home along with quite a number of additional new neighbors. The new building will not only provide an extremely impressive statement of the strength and stability of TXTA, but will provide considerable financial benefit to the organization.

I am humbled by the service given to this organization by the board members who worked with me during the final phase of this decision process and those who have served in the many prior years during which this plan was being con- sidered. We are all in debt to those who have volunteered their time to serve and to the excellent professional staff we have in place to guide our association on a daily basis. None of our success would be possible without everyone taking an oar and rowing.
Your board and staff will continue planning for days of tight budgets as well as days of prosperity; for days when law makers and trucking leaders see eye to eye as well as those days when we must take our issues to the steps of the capitol and tell our story to those who might not have had the privilege of knowing just how much we contribute to the economies of our community, our state and our coun- try. In carrying forward our mission, I have great faith in the abilities of our lead- ership and our next chairwoman, Marcia Faschingbauer, who will continue our progress and carry on this project.
It is important to note here that our national affiliates have selected new presi- dents - Chris Spear (American Trucking Associations) and John Lyboldt (Truckload Carriers Association). Our association benefits in countless ways from our relationship with these organizations. Their renewed focus on accountability and transparency is inspiring and the membership base is excited and ready to engage with these new leaders.
Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) is an affiliate of the American Trucking Associations. TXTA is a
Texas corporation of trucking companies, private carrier fleets and businesses which serve or supply the trucking industry. TXTA serves these companies as a governmental affairs representative before legislative, regulatory and executive branches of government on issues that affect the trucking industry. The organization also provides public relations services, education services, operational services and serves as a forum for industry meetings and membership relations. For more information, contact TXTA at:

I would be remiss if I did not take some space to thank my family for their sup- port and tolerance. My wife Terri and kids, Connor and Emma; it is no fun with- out you guys. You make it all worthwhile.
In closing I will leave you with my “vision” for TXTA: A wise man wrote in a song long ago “The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades!”. When looking in the direc- tion of TXTA in the years to come, so must we all young man, so must we all.
