T C L R You may have seen in the local press, reports of efforts by the Parish Council to galvanise acon, by Hampshire County Council Highway Authority, to install more safety measures in Lymington Road near the primary school, for the benefit of all road users. Unfortunately the County Council is currently resisng any works, but the Parish Council is pressing them for a site inspecon. Cllr Sean Woodward, Execuve Member for Economy, Transport and Environment at the County Council has said in response to the Parish Council’s efforts: ”While I understand the concerns of any parent about road safety, at a me of ongoing reducons in Government funding we must connually look very carefully at where we focus our resources, as we have a responsibility to every Hampshire Council taxpayer, to make sure that the funding we have is focussed on work that will make a posive difference. I understand that this parcular road outside the school already has…measures [which] appear effecve in creang a safe environment… It is, I’m afraid, impossible to engineer

complete road safety – we need the people using the road to use it as safely as possible and drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise consideraon and care at all mes.” The Parish Council will connue to press for improvements and is undertaking a review of parking and traffic issues in the whole village. G Following our piece in the last edion of the Village Voice for local voluntary groups and charies to come forward to apply for small grants from the Parish Council, we are pleased to report that several have been approved and awarded. These include the village Christmas Tree, New Forest Access for All, Guide Dogs in memory of Freda Cheyney (pictured), Milford‐on‐Sea Community Care Group, Food Week, SCARF, Milford‐on‐Sea Demena Group, and New forest Cizens’ Advice Bureau. Bob Bishop, Chairman said “The Parish Council is delighted to support such a wide range of local organisaons who benefit our community greatly”.
