FoAM-BUILD Functional adaptive nanomaterials and technologies for energy efficient buildings

The FoAM-BUILD project will develop thermoplastic particle foam using newly developed raw materials, additives and process set-ups. A nano-scaled structure will be used for the particle foam cell morphology to achieve the targeted insulation behaviour; new polymer blends and nano-scaled nucleating agents in combination with a new high pressure drop rate expansion process will be developed to realise the nano-cellular foam.

iNSPiRe Development of systemic packages for deep energy renovation of residential and tertiary buildings including envelope and systems

iNSPiRe is a four-year, EC-funded project aims to tackle the problem of high-energy consumption by producing systemic renovation packages that can be applied to residential and tertiary buildings. This project sees the collaboration of 24 partners across nine work packages from the combined fields of research and development, industry, small business and not-for-profit organisations.

MEM4WIN Ultra-thin glass membranes for advanced, adjustable and affordable quadruple glazed windows for zero- energy buildings

MEM4WIN is a collaborative research project of 13 partner institutions from science and industry funded under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development of the European Commission.

With the introduction of quadruple glazing with ultra-thin glass membranes and the development of advanced technologies for smart windows the MEM4WIN consortium will demonstrate that the envisaged modular advanced, adjustable and affordable window system enables the erection of zero-energy buildings.

NEED4B New energy efficient demonstration for buildings

The overall objective of the project is to develop an open and easily replicable methodology for designing, constructing, and operating new low energy buildings, aiming to a large market uptake. NEED4B methodology will be validated and refined by a strong demonstration programme, envisaging the construction of 27.000 m2, spread among five demo sites covering different climatic zones, buildings types and uses, what ensures replicability of the project results and guarantees their impact in the construction sector.
