CommONEnergy Re-conceptualising shopping malls from consumerism to energy conservation

The EU-funded project CommONEnergy will turn highly energy consuming shopping centres into temples of energy conservation. It gathers 23 partners representing various industry stakeholders, as well as research and academia from ten European countries.

D

DAREED Decision support advisor for innovative business models and user engagement for smart energy- efficient districts

DAREED is framed within energy efficiency for Smart Cities of the Seventh EU Framework Programme. European Comission fosters projects focused in objectives of 2020 low carbon economy through the integration and validation of ICT technologies and services in neighbourhoods.

Design4Energy Building life-cycle evolutionary design methodology able to create energy-efficient buildings flexibly connected with the neighbourhood energy system

Design4Energy project aim to develop an innovative Integrated Evolutionary Design Methodology that can allow the stakeholders to predict the current and future energy efficiency of buildings (both at individual level and neighbourhood level) and make better informed decision in optimising the energy performance at building life cycle level, including operation and maintenance.

DIMMER District information modelling and management for energy reduction

ICT is recognized as being a key player against climate change: pervasive sensors and actuators can efficiently control the whole energy chain (Smart Thermal/Electricity Grid). On the other side, advances on 3D modelling, visualization and interaction technologies enable user profiling and real-time feedback to promote energy efficient behaviours. To unlock the potentiality of these technologies, the DIMMER project focuses on:

• Modelling: Integration of Building Information Models (BIM) with real- time data and their extension at the district level (DIM).

• Middleware: Able to integrate different data sources: Building Information Model (BIM), System Information Model (SIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS).

• Interoperability: Optimizing information exchanged on ICT new platform and DBs.

• Awareness: Visualizing in real-time energy related information in the building and district environment, using virtual and augmented reality.

E

E+ New systems, technologies and operation models based on ICTs for the management of energy positive and proactive neighbourhoods.

The main objective of E+ is to develop a control system for energy management at neighbourhood level and its associated new business and operation models. The expected role of ICT tools is to enable large share of distributed RES, massive deployment of EVs and storage systems, customers participation and loads control.

EASEE Envelope approach to improve sustainability and energy efficiency in existing multi-storey multi-owner residential buildings

EASEE final goal is to improve the energy performance of existing residential building stock. For this purpose, the project will develop a new holistic approach to envelope retrofitting based on a combination of pre-fabricated components to be installed without wet finishing on site, novel insulation approaches for the cavity wall and innovative insulating solutions for the interiors.

ECO-SEE Eco-innovative, safe and energy efficient wall panels and materials for a healthier indoor environment

The ECO-SEE project aims to address an emerging health problem associated with modern low carbon buildings. Modern buildings have been developed to be very airtight, improving their energy efficiency and reducing their carbon footprint. However, these sealed environments have created unexpected side effects, with research showing that a build-up of potentially harmful chemicals in the air is potentially causing negative impacts on occupants.
