Greenhead College, Hudderseld (2,243 pupils) made an instant 10% saving by switching their frozen food contract. Despite having good rates with their existing supplier, the school discovered that they could save £150 per week – £5,700 across the academic year – by adopting the public sector framework from buying organisation YPO. Greenhead College, said: ‘As we were quite happy with the deal we had, we didn’t have a need to shop around. YPO’s Customer Development Manager was very good at explaining how we could get better value for money by utilising the existing contracts available. She conducted a benchmarking exercise and I am delighted with the result. The arrangement is with the same supplier and is almost exactly the same, so without any disruption to the service, we have made a substantial saving. This money can be used to fund other vital resources within the college.’
