News Cashpoint theft ploers jailed
THREE members of an organised crime gang who plotted to steal a cash machine have been jailed for a total of more than 13 years.
Stephen Davenport, of Fair- bourne Lane, Harrietsham; An- thony Pemberthy, of Green Lane, Langley and Michael Turner, of Tilden Close, High Halden also conspired to steal safes from post offices in Biddenden and Sutton Valence. They were arrested on Monday,
March 30 last year when officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate caught wind of their plans and intervened before the offences could be committed. All three subsequently admitted conspiracy to burgle andwere sen- tenced at Maidstone Crown Court. The court heard that police spent
several weeks building evidence against the gang as they planned to steal an ATM from a supermarket in Peasmarsh, East Sussex, using a digger stored at a nearby building site.
On several occasions between February and March 2015 the three men were observed acting suspi- ciously in and around the Peas- marsh area. Police discovered that Davenport and Pemberthy had
