Miniatures Take the Stage in Fort Worth

The American Miniature Horse Associ-

ation’s World Show began on Thursday, Sep- tember 24 with the just-for-fun Youth events that included, Shank-less Showmanship, Shank-less Hunter and the very popular Lib- erty class. Youth competed in driving, jump- ing, obstacle, versatility and costume over the first weekend of this 10 day event. The highlight of the show for many spec- tators is the Open Jumper class. TV Chanel 5 News filmed a portion of that class and interviewed the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion afterwards. The behind the scenes story of these two minis soon stole the lime- light. Wizards Spell Troubles Exemplary, aka, Larry, frequently competed with Iona Excali- bur or “Cal”- trained by Versatility Farm and Training Center. Cal and Larry have swapped the win back and forth many times, scoring in the Top 10 (usually the top 2 or 3) in Open Jumper for the last seven years. 2015 was Larry’s time to shine as he was awarded the Grand. A TV news crew caught some of the action as the class played out and even inter- viewed the Grand and Reserve winners back at their stalls. Cal’s favorite blue Gatorade was her reward after her amazing performance and Larry was petted and praised for his incredi-

ble feats above ground. For the record, the jump-off rails were set at 40 inches but in previous years, Larry has jumped 44 inch- es in the final round of competition. You can truly appreciate just how amazing these two Miniatures really are when you realize, Cal is “a little older” age 20, to be exact. And Larry, he’s “a lit- tle smaller”, only 30 inches of little horse- flesh to launch over the rails. Hats off to these two incredible horses! 4th times the charm for Los Arbo- les Idols Hit Parade. AMHA history was re-written when this talented gelding broke the previous record and for the 4th year in a row, was named World’s Best All Around Horse. Solely trained by Mike Rosauer of Stars Miniatures of Spurger, TX, Parade clinched the title by showing in Roadster, Country, Versatility and Halter Geldings.
