OMNITRACS DONATES CHILDREN’S BOOK


Philanthropic contribution promotes positive image of the trucking industry, raises visibility of truck driving as a career option

Omnitracs, LLC, a leading provider of


fleet management solutions to transporta- tion and logistics companies, announced its donation of more than 550 books to Trucker Buddy International and the Dallas Independent School District, as a compo- nent of the company’s growing corporate social responsibility initiative. The illus- trated children’s book, “Papa Doug Hauls Strawberries & Smiles,” tells the story of a truck driver’s tales from the road, as re- counted to his son. Omnitracs’ contribution of the books to the two non-profits aims to promote the trucking industry as a career choice while benefiting children’s literacy. “As a leading member of the Dallas

books given to Trucker Buddy International, a nonprofit organization started in 1992 and dedicated to helping educate and men- tor school children via a pen pal relation- ship between professional truck drivers and children in kindergarten through eighth grade. A portion of the books were distributed to Boy Scouts of America troops attending the Merit Badge and Trucking In- dustry Tour and the families of truck driv- ers at the Great American Truck Show, Aug. 27-29, in Dallas. Additional books will be distributed via Trucker Buddy to the chil- dren of other truck drivers. Omnitracs also donated more than 300 copies of the book to the Dallas Independent School District to be added to school library collections.
