to drivers who have either competed or volunteered at the Championships for at least five years and are rated on professionalism, industry knowledge, and attitude. Tis year’s recipient of the Jerry Wessel Award went to Robie Jensen, Fremont Contract Carriers. Te Rookie of the Year Award is given


to a first-time participant for having the highest overall score in all four parts of the competition. Tis year, the Championships had 16 rookies competing, and James M. Stennis of Old Dominion Freight Lines, received the award. Te top three places were awarded in


each of the ten competition classes. Te first place winner in each of the first nine classes listed may advance to the American Trucking Associations (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, August 11-14 in St. Louis, while the mixer truck first place winner advances to the National Mixer Driver Championship. Also held during the Championships


was the Nebraska State Patrol Inspector Championships, consisting of a personal interview, a table top exercise and various hands-on inspections. Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Aaron Schoen took first. Trooper Schoen #426, an eleven-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, is stationed in Nebraska City and assigned to the Carrier Enforcement Division. Trooper Schoen will now represent Nebraska in the North American Inspector Championships, held in conjunction with the ATA National Truck Driving Championships in St. Louis.
