BUSINE SS WITH S PIRIT

Presence, passion, purpose and profit The relationship between a person’s inner self and the success

of their business is intrinsically linked. If you currently own a business, how do you think you sit in each of these respects? First, take a look at the Quality of Life scale and read from

the bottom up. Now, take a look at the Business scale and again read from

the bottom up: This scale is subjective. Women usually know where they

sit. Men are more inclined to rate themselves higher. So I suggest a muscle test to bring you back to reality. Once you have identified where you sit, think about how your emotional blocks can get in the way of your business’s acceleration. If you’re close to ‘giving up’ on the quality of life scale, this will be mirrored in how your business is performing. On the other hand, if you’re in ‘effortless flow’, your business will most likely be flying and either be in, or be close to being ‘in the zone’. What all of this means is that you have to really get out of

your own way in order to get out of your business’s way: “But how do I do that?” you proclaim. I call it ‘getting clear on your four Ps’: your presence, passion, purpose and profit.

a) Presence One of the first steps to moving up the quality of life scale is to make sure that you are fully present – here, and in the moment. Over time, as life challenges us, we lose our ability to stay

present. We’re distracted, our attention is divided, and we meander through life on a diluted engine of limiting thoughts and beliefs. We analyse to the point of paralysis and from an energetic perspective, we’re completely disconnected from our feet and the earth, which in turn, severs our life force from our heart. As a result, we make choices which are not aligned with our vision and purpose, but more directed to short term gains which can permanently hurt our business relationships.

The best way to increase your presence is to get grounded. Take your shoes off and walk, sit and meditate with your bare feet on the earth for 15 minutes a day. This is known as ‘earthing’.

The energy will stream up your legs and, as you enjoy the sunshine, you will feel your heart and be completely in your body. Your thoughts and actions will be coherent, and this congruency will flow into your business.

b) Passion Find your passion: easier said than done, I know, but try to think about what you enjoyed doing as a kid. What aspects of your job or hobbies make your heart sing? What would you do if you could ignore all the social conditioning that made you believe that your passion wasn’t worth acknowledging? This doesn’t mean you need to give up your day job, but

think about doing activities which feed your passion and keep its light alive. When you nurture your heart, your vibration increases, and the opportunities will flow to you.

Working with your breath and getting your life force (or ‘chi’) flowing will enable you to drop into your intuition, and feel and see your passion. Two simple things you can do regularly are:

• Reichian breathing Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart, with your knees slightly bent. As you inhale deeply, pull your shoulders back and puff out your chest (like you’re in the final position of breaststroke). At the same time, push your bottom backwards, so that your back is curved. On the exhale, push your pelvis forwards and drive your

arms downwards as you straighten them. Repeat for ten minutes. Go as fast as you reasonably can while taking
