JUMPSTART YOUR BUSINESS WITH YOUR PRESENCE, PASSION AND PURPOSE

The relationship between a person’s inner self and the success of their business is intrinsically linked. If you currently own a business, how do you think you sit in each of these respects?

By Robert Kirby

How do you get in your own way? Like all business owners, you want to take your business to the

next level. By day, you’re producing inspired output – products, blog posts, videos and networking. By night, you’re barely containing the despair that gnaws away at the back of your mind. You hustle and push and strive: ‘Any day now, it’ll all come together’, you repeat. And then, as each unprofitable week comes to an end, you’re completely mystified. Doing all the conventionally ‘right’ things isn’t working for you. You’re drowning.

Congruence within yourself creates coherence in your business A friend of mine owns a small business that is currently on BRW’s 100 Fastest Growing Businesses in Australia list. Oddly, in the context of today’s social media driven landscape, his website is basic and uninspired. When I asked him why he hadn’t taken the time to make it slick and appealing, he shrugged: “That stuff really doesn’t matter – it isn’t what makes people want to do business with me”. He’s right – because, as with all things, it’s the heart and

passion behind the endeavour which propels it to expand and thrive. In running a business, what matters is the business owner’s passion and clarity of purpose. When passion and purpose are aligned with the business owner’s own personal presence, this shines through in their product. Customers are drawn to the congruent energy of the brand, as well as the truth of the message that the business owner is selling. This then has the effect of driving profits up.
