As part of the continuing development of its cladding ranges Freefoamhas now launched a new smooth style 150mm wide shiplap cladding. Available in bright white and an attractive range of traditional woodgrain shades including Mahogany, Light Oak, Rosewood and Black, Freefoam has also added a new more contemporary colour finish, Anthracite Grey, to meet the demands of a developing market. PVC-U woodgrain cladding is a popular low maintenance option often used for dormer extensions and detailing on external areas. Freefoam monitor trends in the marketplace and have responded to the growing popularity of grey windows and doors by adding a new Anthracite Grey woodgrain option. The new 150mm Shiplap cladding features a modified right angle leg designed to fit perfectly with the new generic standard range of cladding trims launched earlier this year. Freefoam recognise the capital investment in stocking items with multiple trims so have developed an innovative generic range of cladding accessories that are designed to work with the complete range of cladding products from the narrow 100mm wide Open V cladding right up to the Fortex Pro 333mm wide double shiplap board. Freefoam work with world leading foil provider Renolit using the Exofol PVC film for all woodgrain products to provide a durable fade resistant product.
enq.236 Powder coating rejuvenates a tired building
Powdertech (Corby) Ltd has recently completed a refurbishment project in the historic Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln. Danesgate House, built in 1963, and now used as student accommodation, was looking tired and out of place. The concrete cladding and windows needed replacing and better insulation was required. Aluminium cassette rain screen cladding consisting of 200mm planks in a clapperboard style was chosen to replace the concrete. Powdertech Corby Sales Director Richard Besant explained: “The existing red brick of the building was retained. The designers wanted the colour and pattern of the cladding to enhance this, and blend in with the historic buildings nearby. We were asked to source five shades of grey for fifteen batches of 200mm aluminium planks. We selected five from the Valspar range”. In order to minimise disruption to residents, the refurbishments was carried out within a tight timescale. Powdertech Corby coated and delivered 2,500m² of aluminium across an 8 week period. The windows were replaced with larger, grey, double glazed slim-profile frames. The building now complements the surrounding architecture and the powder coating will last in excess of 20 years, benefitting residents and onlookers alike.
