Having topped the euro zone league table for growth last year, many economic pundits are tipping Ireland to repeat the feat this year. Despite government forecasts suggesting GDP would grow by only 4 per cent this year, the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) suggest growth in excess of 5 per cent is a very real possibility
In fact, the CSO stats found that the Irish economy has been growing at a faster rate than
previously recorded, with value of activity rising to levels not seen since before the crash in 2007. Dental businesses that have survived the lean years are starting to feel the benefits and the latest mutterings from the government suggest that, having been neglected for so long, dentistry might be about to get some long- overdue attention.

If some basic treatments can be added back to the scheme, then attendances will surely improve and the dental economy and oral health of the nation can start moving in the same direction.
