An archive relating to Mercer & Co., Photographers and D & P Finishers, 49 South Methven Street, Perth, to include bronzed convex company name wall plaque “Mercer & Co (D & D GREENHILL) PHOTOGRAPHERS”, two company stamps, photographic portrait cards documenting the company’s history from High Street, Perth to Lauriston Place, Tollcross, Edinburgh, photographs taken by David Greenhill to include ‘73 year old Mr Ysart turning out “Vasart” ware in his workshop in Perth, three photographs depicting the opening of the Queens Bridge, Perth, 1960, Duke and Duchess of York arriving at Glamis Station to attend the funeral of her Mother, portrait photographs to include David Greenhill and others and a large group of photographs and papers.

289. A late Victorian large format photograph, Studio of Magnus Jackson, showing the partially frozen River Tay looking South from The Old Bridge, titled “Perth 14th Febry. 1895” signed lower right and inscribed Magnus Jackson lower left, 42cm x 58cm photograph size.


Magnus Jackson was a Perth photographer who set up a photographic studio in Marshall Place circa 1860. In 1884 he moved his studio to 62 Princes Street, Perth and became well known as a landscape photographer. Provenance: From the Photographic Studio of MERCER & Co. (D.& D.
