Footpath The clerk advised that another leer regarding the footpath to the sports field had been received from a neighbouring landowner expressing concern for her property and requesting that the parish council indemnify it. Councillors agreed theywere in no position to indemnify private property. Itwas anticipated that beer public access would provide increased footfall which would reduce problems. Emergency planning Owing to the lack of interest of residents at the recent village hall fair, there would be no further action. Tall Trees Close Tenants of parish council land at Tall Trees Close had put forward an offer to buy the land subject to the parish council covering all costs. Councillors agreed that potential legal costs would need to be ascertained before agreeing on a price. Buses During the school holidays, the number 59 bus service would leave 18 minutes earlier.

Crime report Communitywarden Liz Lova had been working with the Post Office on a campaign to tackle scammers. Cllr Peter Forknall reported fly-tipping in East Hall Road and Forge Lane. Streetlight The electrician had been unable to source the parts for the light on Mercer Way. Maidstone Council said that as itwas fied with a swan-necked bracket the whole columnwould have to be changed aswell as the lantern. Itwas also noted that the LED lanterns gave a very intense white light. The cost to replace the unit would be £1,001, and the cost to remove itwould be £471. Residents said they would like to keep the streetlight. Cllr Forknall agreed to speak to Hop Engineering about the cost of making a container to shroud the light. Cul de sac Kent Highway Services had tried to install the signs on Mersham Crescent and MercerWay. However, Cllr Valerie Underdown had been approached by an irate resident and, as the signswere not what the parish council hadwanted (they were 6ft no entry signs), Cllr Underdown asked KHS not to continue with the installation. The clerkwas advised that Maidstone Council dealt with requests for no through route symbols on nameplates,

and it had been contacted. Bus service Cllr SteveMunford reported on the closure of PloughWents Road. Communication with Arriva had been appalling and the clerkwas asked to write to Arriva and KCC about this. There would be no further changes to the No 59 service and no additional buses. However, the timetable relating to the early morning bus would be changed temporarily for the school holidays. Pavilion Cllr StevenWaring said the electricianwas going to check the supply at the pavilion as EDF said the insufficient power problem had been rectified. Shop The commieewas hoping that a new cabin would be available soon. The shop had had to close following a storm and fresh and frozen goods had to be dispersed while the powerwas out. Post box The clerk had been chasing the Post Office to get a replacement post box near the one thatwas lost when thewall of the old gravediggers hut had fallen down. Clerk’s absence The clerkwas due to have surgery and itwas agreed not to put any arrangements in place in the meantime.


Coxheath


Neighbourhood planAn urgent meeting was to be arranged with senior planning officers to finalise an agreement to take the plan forward to independent examination. Planning application The parish council was to lodge a formal complaint with Maidstone Council about the handling of the planning application relating to the Heathfield site north of Heath Road. Lier bin Quotationswere to be sought for the removal of the damaged cast iron lier bin from the bus shelter in Heath Road and a replacement concrete bin at thewestern end of the village hall playing field. Recreation area Repairswere to be made to the Linden Road gate at the entrance to the recreation area and to the carousel in the children’s play area. Drug dealing The parish councilwas to follow up complaints to Kent Police regarding possible drug dealing. Communitywarden Itwas hoped that a communitywarden would be appointed for Coxheath and Hunton from September.


East Farleigh


Crime report PCSO Mahew Judges reported six crimes: a theft of wheels from a vehicle in Gallants Lane; a theft of number plates from a vehicle in Lower Road; two burglaries in Dean Street; a theft of number plates from a vehicle in Station Hill and the theft of garden furniture from Dean Street. Old School HallAleer had been received from Period Homes, whowished to investigate the viability of selling the building. The leer asked the council if it was interested in buying the building under the community right to bid. Itwas agreed that the clerk should reply saying that the council could not consider this until the buildingwas on the market. Car park Itwas agreed that the council would ask TripleM to sort out the surface. Otherwise, the council would arrange for someone else to do the work and bill TripleM. The bays could not be repainted until the surfacewas right. The council wanted to repaint before September. Bridge working partyAquote for £5,250 + Vat had been received for further work on


bridge trafficmanagement. Itwas agreed to defer any decision until the council had seen the results of Network Rail’s investigation after the injury of a signalman. Village fete The event raised £1,440. Itwas noted that the storage container on the recreation fieldwas in a poor state of repair and the floorwas dangerous. Itwas agreed to have a community day to sort this out. However, itwas felt that the repair of the goalposts should be the responsibility of West Farleigh Football Club.


East Suon


Highways The drainage and ruts had been repaired at Morry Lane. Workhouse Lane was being repaired. The OldHollow had been repaired. Boyton Court Roadwas still to be repaired. Cllr Malcolm Ireland had contacted Kent Highway Services about the cuing of sight lines at junctions. Basketball court Therewere very thin holes in the Tarmac surface. Village hall The back room had been replastered.


Hunton


Huntonwatch Staff at Hunton Engineering had seen the same car stop and look at the gates of the company and there had been some tampering at the almshouses. The external key safe had been interfered with at one house and someonewas heard in the shed of another. Policewere notified. Bus stop Itwas felt itwasMaidstone Council’s responsibility to move the dangerous location of the bus stop on the junction ofWest Street and East Street. Playing field Repair work had been carried out to the car park at the King George V playing field. The hedge on the road side of the field would be looked at when kerbing onWest Street had been installed. Moles Arrowguardwas to be contacted to deal with the moles again. The rabbitswere being controlled. Village hall The sewage plant had broken down, causing flooding at the back of the hall, which took twoweeks to rectify. The sewers had been jeed. Therewas a surplus of about £500 at the year end. Nineteen weddings had been booked for 2015 with another four booked for next year. The insurance premium had increased by 10% but this would be queried as CCTV had been installed since the theft of the solar panels.The boiler needed work, beer chairs were required and in the longer term the outside would need to be redecorated. Highways The kerbing onWest Streetwas due to be installed and the boom end of East Streetwas to be resurfaced. Speed measurement would then be put in place. The possibility of an anti-skid surface at the boom of Hunton Hill would be discussed with KCC Cllr Paulina Stockell.

Speeding Two leers had been received from residents regarding vehicle speeding concerns. These would be forwarded to the PCSO and the possibility of speed checks in these areas would be investigated. BonfireAresident had raised concern. Play areaAquote for the repair of the play area and gym equipmentwas accepted. SpeedWatch Itwas resolved to buy a dual message display unit.
