Region 8 weight-loss winners announced
Eleven participants in the Lose to Win 2015 Spring Challenge in PEF Region 8 lost a combined total of 115 pounds. The Lose to Win Program (formerly Biggest Loser) has been consistently successful since its launch in the spring of 2013. Since that first pilot program, approximately 114 participants who finished the program and were weighed, have lost a combined total of 977 pounds. The June 22 event was chaired by Linda Baker, secretary of the Region 8 Womens Program, and Statewide EAP Wellness Coordinator Linda Carignan. It included a reception provided by PEF Vice President Barbara Ulmer, chair of the PEF Womens
• Retaining information in the “whereas” portion of adopted policies and the names of the persons who proposed the policies, instead of just recording the “therefore, be it resolved” portions. The names of those who proposed existing policies would be restored where possible;
• Scheduling, booking and completing contracts for quarterly Executive Board meetings and notifying board members about them at least six months prior to the
Program and Region 8 Coordinator Nikki Brate.
The top five winners of the Spring Challenge were:
1st Place: Theodore Chmielewski – lost 15.12 percent and won $150; 2nd Place: Kim Appler – lost 14.70 percent and won $100;
3rd Place: Christy Carroll – lost 6.23 percent and won $75;
4th Place: Janet Fisher – lost 5.92 percent and won $50; and
5th Place: Christopher O’Neill – lost 4.10 percent and won $25.
The other six participants who were weighed and lost at least one pound,
meetings; and
• When possible, making “searchable” all PEF documents provided to PEF convention delegates and Executive Board members.
Several other proposed policies were tabled or ruled out of order.
PEF divisions
On the recommendation of the PEF Divisions Committee, the board approved
received a $25 gift card.
All participants were given gifts including water bottles donated by MetLife and other items purchased with funds donated by PEF Division 205. The most common technique the winners mentioned as helping them lose weight were reducing the calories they consumed and exercising regularly. The top two winners exercised daily. The Region 8 Women’s Program has announced the 2015 Lose To Win Holiday Challenge will begin in October. It will be a 10-week program, ending in mid- December.
