A great place to learn and grow! S
t Joseph’s School was founded on its present site in 1934 as a Catholic Independent Co-Educational Day School by the Sisters of Mercy. We are superbly located in the centre of Nottingham on Derby Road, close to St Barnabas’ Cathedral.
The most positive feature of the school is the quality of the pupils’ personal development and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. This reflects the happy, caring, respectful relationships and the strong sense of community in the school. The development of pupils’ self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-confidence and personal belief is central to their experience. Pupils are mature, courteous and caring. They are considerate of one another and show respect for their teachers through good manners and behaviour.
St Joseph’s School is proud of its academic, sporting and spiritual traditions and continues to offer the best education possible to children from 12 months to 11 years. We have a dedicated, professional and experienced staff who put the needs of the children
at the heart of their work. The day to day management of the school is in the hands of our new Head Teacher, Mr A Crawshaw, who is also working hard to take the school forward, ably supported by an active and expert Board of Trustees.
We intentionally keep classes small, with no more than 20 in a year group so that we are able to offer individual attention to our children and get to know them as people and meet their needs.
Children in Year 2 and Year 6 sit the National Assessments and there is a comprehensive system of tracking and monitoring to ensure they achieve their full potential. St Joseph’s is totally non selective, embraces all faiths and are proud that many of our children go on to gain places at local Independent Senior Schools of their choice.
