Taking the Temperature – business survey launched
Law firm Penningtons Manches LLP and The Business Magazine are together launching a special survey of business sentiment – under the theme, Taking the Temperature
Throughout June, business readers in the region will be asked to complete a short survey which will help paint a picture of business conditions in the Solent and Thames Valley areas, and highlight the most current concerns of companies of all sizes.
The survey will ask – following the General Election, are you more or less optimistic about:
• Economic growth
• Your company‘s growth and future prospects
Companies will be asked:
Are you planning in the next quarter to: • Increase headcount • Reduce headcount • Maintain current levels
Are you planning this year to:
• Secure funding for future growth
• Acquire (or merge with) another business
• Take your product/services into new markets
Business leaders will also be asked what keeps them awake at night? What is their biggest concern?
Penningtons Manches, a £60 million-turnover law firm with offices in Oxford, Reading, Basingstoke, Guildford, Godalming, Cambridge and London, as well as in San Francisco, sees the quarterly survey as building a valuable insight into the business culture of the region.

Chief executive David Raine (pictured) said: ”These are interesting times following the Election. While many businesses might think we now have more certainty, there are always clouds over the horizon. The key is to be ready for any challenges ahead; and we think that our survey will help assess not just what businesses are doing now, but how well placed they are for any future changes.”
Readers can complete the survey either by clicking on the link on our regular weekly e-newsletter throughout June, or through the link on our website:

America‘s Cup chooses Bremont as timing partner
Bremont Watch Company has been appointed as the official timing partner to the 35th America‘s Cup and to the defending champion, Oracle Team USA.
To commemorate the event, Bremont will embark on a special project to produce a series of timepieces projected to set a new standard in sporting and luxury watch collections.
Headquartered in Henley- on-Thames, the company was co-founded by brothers Nick and Giles English who were inspired by their father, an ex-RAF pilot with a PhD in aeronautical engineering. He shared his knowledge of aviation, yacht construction and clock manufacture with his sons, leading them to form the Bremont Watch Company in 2002.

Giles English commented: ”Nick and I grew up with both flying and sailing in our blood, so it‘s a dream come true that Bremont has the opportunity to support and promote the amazing story of this world-famous race. We are honoured to be involved in this prestigious event with such historical importance.”
The adventure, heritage and engineering fundamental to the Cup make the event a natural fit for Bremont. Nick English added: ”As with all our partners we will look to learn from them and work closely on a technical level, but we also intend to explore the Cup‘s rich history.”
The America‘s Cup World Series will begin in Portsmouth on the weekend of July 25-26, placing one of the region‘s premier waterfront cites on the global stage.
