The Principle Trust helps benefit young people!
The Principle Trust is a Skipton based charity founded to provide disadvantaged children in Yorkshire a respite holiday.
The Principle Trust provides well-deserved, free holidays for children that are socially, physically and emotionally deprived as a result of extreme poverty in the local Yorkshire and Lancashire areas, particularly those with additional difficulties such as long term illness, victims of violence, depression, disability or overcrowded and inadequate housing.
Working with local children’s organisations to ensure that the children who are most in need benefit from a holiday, they have invested in three fantastic holiday homes at the Haven Holiday Village, Marton Mere, Blackpool and to date have helped 513 children have some much needed respite. Receiving the thank you letters from the children is the greatest pleasure!
North Yorkshire’s Children’s Centres
T
here are 37 Children’s Centres across North Yorkshire which provide family-friendly services and activities to support parents and their young children in every community.
The Children’s Centres have been set up to promote the health and well-being of expectant parents and families, and to help all children under five get a good start and to flourish. They offer a safe place to play and learn; family health services; easy access to information, advice and guidance about many aspects of family life; employment and training support; and confidential non-judgemental help in those times when parents and families face difficulties.
Some of the Centres also offer full day care and early years education for young children, as well as a programme of activities, including ante-natal
groups, baby clinics, breastfeeding support, stay and play sessions, Dad’s groups, twins groups, groups for children with additional needs, Childminder drop-in sessions, young parents groups, and many more. You can also learn about healthy eating, your child’s development, family first aid, managing your money, or giving up smoking.
Contact, or call into your local centre to ask about Local, County Council and National services for families, or to use the free phone or computer services to access the information and advice you might need. Small Steps 31
The Principle Trust is managed by volunteers and is a non-profit making organisation. The three homes are being used to full occupancy; the Trust relies on fundraising and donations to pay for the purchase, upkeep, ground rent, insurance, utilities and additional services.
Currently they are seeking support to help them ensure that they can continue to place a family in each of their holiday homes every week. They also have the support of their local MP, and the Town Mayor.
The Principle Trust is not purely seeking monetary donations; they are also looking for products, services or gifts to contribute to their many fundraising events; as well as funding partners.
