PIP Update The DWP accepts that the delays faced by some people claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are unacceptable, and they are looking at a number of ways to clearing the back logs and improve processing times. They have increased the number of health professionals and administrative staff that they employ, new assessment centres have been opened and they have made changes to the IT tools that support assessments. By the end of 2014, they expect no one to be waiting longer then 16 weeks. (it has been 26 weeks). Big Sunflower Project 2015 - Toni Louise Abram – I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in The Big Sunflower Project 2014. Ultimately, the aim of the project is to raise awareness of the rare neuromuscular conditions known as centronuclear and myotubular myopathy and the project has yet again achieved this by sending seeds to many people who had never previously heard of the conditions.

The funding required to pay for seeds, envelopes and postage had run low, so a crowdfundingproject was launched which raised £250 that was needed to cover the running costs of the project.

Rather excitingly as the year draws to a close, The Information Point has been short-listed to take part in the Skipton Building Society Grassroots Giving initiative and if successful will receive a donation of £500, which will really help The Big Sunflower Project in 2015.

Finally, The Big Sunflower Project page on the Information Point website recently had a re-vamp. Please take a look - some of you may recognise your own photos. Thank you once again for taking part in The Big Sunflower Project 2014 and I hope you will join me again in 2015.
