DEALS AWARDS2015 SOLENT Entries open for Solent Deals Awards
Entries are now open for the 2015 Solent Deals Awards – the biggest and best corporate finance event on the south coast
High-profile sponsors include PwC, UBS, HSBC, Pitmans, Moore Blatch, WK Corporate Finance, BCMS and Meridian Corporate Finance.
With entries closing on April 27, and the awards night planned for Thursday, June 11, it is now time to focus on getting your nominations in for the prestigious deals awards categories.
The Solent Deals Awards will cover deal activity between January 1, 2014, and April 17, 2015. Judging will take place in May.
The dealmaking community will be canvassed to nominate their Deals and Dealmaker candidates. Judges will review these nominations – and the final vote will be a mix of judges’ choices and voting on the night.
Awards chairman David Murray said: “Following feedback, and to make the process even more bullet-proof, we have decided to allow a certain weighting for judges’ votes against keypad votes on the night.
THE CATEGORIES:
Management Team sponsored by PwC
Private Equity Firm sponsored by WK Corporate Finance
Bank of the Year sponsored by BCMS
Lawyer of the Year sponsored by Meridian Corporate Finance
Corporate Finance Adviser sponsored by Moore Blatch
Corporate Finance Team sponsored by HSBC
Dealmaker sponsored by Pitmans LLP
Deal of the Year sponsored by UBS
Due Diligence Team
“This should help avoid a situation where tactical voting by tables at the dinner itself skews the result. This has happened at least once with the Dealmaker vote, so we are keen to ensure that the judges, with their broad knowledge of the dealmaking scene in the past year, have their say in the final decision.“
Deals must be geographically relevant to the Solent region – either the target, acquirer, funder, law firm or adviser must be located in the area.
Multiple nominations by different firms in a deal are allowed – but judges will not necessarily give extra weight to the number of nominations. Third parties can nominate too – and judges will pay particular attention to client testimonials on specific deals.
“Judges are not just looking at the size of the deal. They will take into account deal complexity, who led the deal, the mix of advisers and whether the deal was led and completed ’on patch’, whether cross-border, completed to a tight timeframe, and a number of other criteria,“ said Murray.
Table bookings should be secured as soon as possible.
