Megan’s fund set up to help other sick children
FAMILY and friends have set up a fund in memory of a popular Ley- bourne teenager whose death stunned the community. Megan Fox lost her battle with an aggressive brain tumour called glioblastoma in March, just a month after her 17th birthday. She had been diagnosed with the illness in Octo- ber last year. Acharity called Megan’sWish List
has now been launched to keep her memoryalive and help families with children suffering life-changing con- ditions or disabilities in the Ton- bridge and Malling area. It aims to provide financial assistance, sup- port, education and advice. More than £5,000 has just been
raised with a sell-out charity ball at the Hadlow Manor Hotel. Organ- ised by RebeccaAndrews and Freya Gorham the dance, which included an auction and raffle, was a huge success. Thiswas the second big fundrais-
ing event since the charity began in May. The first was a 15-hour music and family entertainment festival
School before going on to Wrotham Secondary School. She had started a health and social
care course at Mid Kent College, Maidstone in September last year and was due to start an apprentice- ship at a doctors’ surgery in West Malling High Street when she be- came ill. She underwent months of treat-

bus changes EAST Malling and Larkfield Parish Council has urged Arriva to recon- sider major cutbacks to the bus service from the area to the Blue- water shopping complex. Buses used to travel daily on the
703 route from Maidstone via Allington, Larkfield and Snodland, but the service has been cut to just two days aweek. It now operates on Saturdays and
Wednesdays, leaving the bus sta- tion at The Mall at 9.40am, calling at Wealden Hall, Larkfield at 10.04am, and leaving Bluewater at 3.45pm for the return journey. But during school term, theWednesday service leaves Bluewater even ear- lier, at 1.45pm, leaving shoppers with only three hours at the centre. The new timetable was introduced on October 5, with Arriva citing lack of use for the reduced service. However, parish council chair-
man David Thornewell said the service was popular, especially with older shoppers. “This was a much-appreciated service and cutting it back to just two days with a quick return on Wednesdays is very sad, especially for pensioners with bus passes who I often sawwaiting for it,” he said.
