Photos of your product being created, designed or assembled work well also. Or showcase your products in interesting places.

3. Employee Centric - People buy because they like the brand or the people behind it. Feature pictures of yourself and your employees. Don’t be afraid to let your hair down a bit; people are on social media to have fun. This doesn’t mean you post pictures of wild parties, but employee picnics or other important events are great to share on Instagram.

4. Contests - Everybody loves a good contest. Pick a fun topic and let your users submit pictures for a chance to win something special.

How do you build a following? The most important part of any social

media strategy is to build a following. In Instagram, this following comes through pictures - yours and others.

• Post Captivating Pictures - Make photos interesting. Tag them appropriately with relevant hashtags. Frequency is much less important

than quality, but try to post at least one picture per day to see a maximum effect.

• Follow & Interact with Potential Clients or Buyers - Use the hashtag search feature or Google to find lists of Instagram users relevant to your brand. And then follow them. Like and comment on their pictures frequently, including their older posts.

• Interact with your Followers - Many users forget the “social” part of social media. Respond to your followers and if they have interesting pictures themselves, like and follow them back.

How much time should I invest?

Caution: Instagram can be addictive. It is easy to get carried away liking pictures and chasing hashtags. But if used reasonably, Instagram can be done in only 5 minutes per day (including snapping an interesting picture). Just post one picture and like the pictures in your most prevalent hashtags. And since you carry your phone anywhere you go anyways - you could even do it while brushing your teeth, or waiting in line at the supermarket.

So have fun and go build a following! 
