• Hampshire-based law firm Warner Goodman LLP has promoted Navdeep Dulai to partner. Dulai is a chartered accountant and head of the firm’s accounts department, and this promotion makes her the first non-solicitor to become a partner in the firm’s history. Dulai joined Warner Goodman in 2006 after qualifying as a chartered accountant the previous year. During her training, she was a member of the accounts and audit team and carried out a number of solicitor’s audits in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area.


• Regional law firm Trethowans has boosted its residential property team with the arrival of lawyer Jon Laidler, who joins from Coffin Mew. Based at Trethowans’ Salisbury office, Laidler, a highly-experienced residential conveyancing specialist, will be working closely with referrers and playing a pivotal role in growing the residential property offering. The appointment comes at a time of continued growth for the award- winning property department. Increased client demand has resulted in wide recognition for the firm’s conveyancing team and subsequent growth has resulted in a number of new appointments over the past year.


• MC Plan & Site Services, a leading firm of independent building inspectors in the south, has appointed Jamie Edwards to the team. He joins as an inspector and will be based in the company’s Poole office. Edwards started in the construction industry after obtaining his degree at King Alfred’s University in Winchester. Now a chartered member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, he also bring experience gained in his nine-year role as building control officer for Bournemouth Borough Council.


• Fareham-based Compass Accountants has appointed senior tax consultant Steve Nias. He brings a wealth of experience to the firm’s clients on issues concerning tax planning and compliance, having worked for several top-30 UK accountancy practices and having vast experience of owner-managed business and private client tax. Having begun his career with the HMRC, firstly as a collector and then as an inspector of taxes, and with a portfolio of tax enquiry cases, he has since worked on many high-level investigations brought by HMRC.


• After the successful launch of its content-driven division, Remarkable Content, marketing communications agency Remarkable Group has announced the appointment of Rhiannon Thompson as head of new business for the content team. Thompson spent over two years as account director in Remarkable’s PR division before leaving to head the communications team at the Consumer Finance Association. Her return to Remarkable marks a new chapter for the 65-strong, Winchester-based agency.

• Dorset commercial law firm Steele Raymond LLP has appointed new partner Sue Adams to the tax team. Adams is dual qualified as a solicitor and chartered tax adviser, and has many years’ experience in all aspects of private client work. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and holds a distinction in the STEP advanced diploma in UK tax for international clients. Adam’s expertise includes inheritance tax and capital gains tax advice and planning (in particular for farming and business clients), the creation and taxation of trusts, and advising small business owners in relation to tax and succession planning.


• Chichester-based Oceanair, world-leading manufacturer of marine blinds, shades and soft furnishings, has appointed Tom Pickles as superyacht business manager. This new role will involve driving sales of Oceanair’s products to European superyachts, raising the profile of services and after-sales care, and working alongside the design and technical team on new product development.


• Andy Gibbs from commercial property experts Vail Williams has been named top deal maker in the Estate Gazette’s commercial property awards, which recognise the best and busiest agents from around Hampshire over the past year. Gibbs, who jointly heads up the Solent business space team, deals with office and industrial property disposals and acquisitions along the M27 corridor. Earning him the accolade of Individual Deal Maker was his involvement in 65 deals across the area. These include a £1.7 million sale of industrial space in New Milton.


• Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has appointed Mark Burton as its new regional managing director of mid-markets banking in the south. Burton assumes responsibility for a 120-strong team, operating from banking centres in Southampton, Gatwick and Reading which provide strategic advice and funding solutions to mid- sized businesses and large corporates with a turnover of £25 million and above. Burton has 17 years’ experience in the banking industry.
