Fayçal: Both Energy and O&G industry- based customers need and use a multitude of services and tools/equipment to make their daily business fl ow. The failure of any component used to ensure the day- to-day seamless operation may cause a cascading effect, potentially resulting in production having to be stopped. A good example is the use of helicopter services in the Energy sector for day-to-day operations as well as at the pre-production or build-up level. Last year, a helicopter manufacturer had a recall action for a

e we

specifi c type of helicopter for safety checks and that caused an overnight need to reposition different helicopters to ensure the essential daily links to oil rigs both offshore and in remote locations. The company set up various An-124 fl ights to move helicopters from North America into Australia. Why use the An-124? It is the only conveyor to move helicopters with absolute minimal disassembling and this ensures helicopters can be brought into service within 24 hours upon arrival at the destination. Lead time goes hand-in-hand with the fl ight time, which is also dictated by regulations, notably traffi c rights and over fl ight permit requests. In extreme cases we have moved cargo using slip crews to avoid any crew rest overlay time to speed up the delivery even more.

Helicopters are just one example. Cranes, dozers, offi ce containers, control rooms, winch heads for cranes, and cable are just a few other examples of commodities we have moved using our expertise in Fast

Response Air Logistics management, our unique fl eet and technical engineering expertise. I would like to point out that Volga-Dnepr’s fl ight ops department has outstanding expertise in working with the various Civil Authorities around the world. They are a very important part of the puzzle – without them the plane is going nowhere.

Pavel: Downtime of equipment in the Energy/Oil & Gas industry can cost millions of dollars per hour, so when the client needs the cargo to be transported urgently it means every hour, even every minute, matters. Recently we had cases when the aircraft was airborne 4 hours after the confi rmation from the customer and the equipment was transported from point A to point B 5,000km away just 15 hours after the client called me. Urgent spares were delivered to the fl oating drilling platform and it resumed production with minimal losses for the client.
