GloMar Wave
purpose built windfarm maintenance vessel
GloMar Shipmanagement B.V. , a well known provider of Safety Standby services in the UK and Dutch sector of the North Sea, decided to venture into the offshore wind industry market two years ago which resulted in designing and building the vessel ‘GloMar Wave’ and the establishment of the company GloMar Offshore Wind Support B.V.
The GloMar Wave is a DP II purpose-built windfarm maintenance and accommodation vessel which complies with the highest industry standards for dynamically positioned vessels.
London Offshore Consultancy, a highly respected name in the industry, has created the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis book in close cooperation with GloMar Shipmanagement B.V. and will also perform the FMEA trials together with class society.
GloMar Wave will be classed by Lloyd’s Register and will have a green passport. She will also receive a Comfort Class notation to the highest standards.
As part of the measures taken to receive a green passport the Mitsubishi engines on board the vessel will have EmiGreen combined silencer-SCR systems installed. The catalysts in this system reduce the NOx emissions to a level lower than 1.8g/ kWh and a reduction of exhaust noise emission in order of 35 dB(A). An extra row of oxidation catalysts reduces the emission of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
This system utilises urea which is injected in the exhaust gas stream. This reduces NOx to harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide and vapour.
GloMar intends to enter the Offshore Wind industry with this vessel, but the GloMar Wave is also very suitable for W2W projects in the oil and gas industry due to the multi-functional vessel lay-out that GloMar has created.
The vessel has 38 luxury single and double ensuite cabins (toilet and bathroom) which are large and spacious and can accommodate a total of 58 persons including the crew.
The ships’ interior is luxurious and spacious with comfort as a high priority. The messroom covers an area of 110 square meters and can accommodate all crew and service personnel in one go.
Furthermore GloMar has incorporated a unique dayroom which can accommodate 40 persons which has a clear view of the sea and of course equipped with all modern creature comforts such as WIFI and interactive television.
The cargo deck covers over 225 square meters and can accommodate 6 X 20 ft containers, W2W system, Davit with Fast Rescue Craft and 2 deck cranes. Along with this deckspace there is also a 100 square meters store below the main deck with, next to normal access points, a large deck-hatch giving the client ample storage facilities. This purpose built vessel is one of a kind and tailored to the needs of the industry says GloMar.
The GloMar Wave will enter the market mid September 2014.
