Find It All at The Sagamore: Lake George’s Luxury Resort...
urned to the ground by a fi re not once, but twice and re- built again – you can imagine that The Sagamore must be a pretty special resort. Originally built in the late 1880s, it has quite the prestigious history and has hosted families, celebri- ties and dignitaries alike. Set on the beautiful and serene Lake George in Bolton Landing, The Sagamore occupies a private 70 acre island and you literally feel like you have the entire lake to yourself. Whether you just want to relax on a chaise lounge at the waterfront or indulge in a spa treatment or explore 10,000 feet of indoor entertainment with your kids at The Rec, you re- ally can fi nd it all at The Sagamore. After having visited the resort on vacations for over four
B
years, I was thrilled to be invited to experience it on a recent press trip and really get an inside look at this beautiful and historic property. With an unlimited amount of activities for you and your family, The Sagamore is a perfect choice for either a quick weekend getaway or a week-long stay. With a strong focus on family activities, it’s a great location to take the kids as they will be occupied all day, while you relax at the pool or enjoy the spa.
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the 390 room resort has had many restorations over the last few years which added a new outdoor pool and spa and salon. I love the choices of accommodations which include the Historic Hotel full of luxurious rooms and suites, or the newly refurbished Lodges which have suites with fi replaces and terraces and many that overlook the lake. Wake up to panoramic views of Lake George from the Governor’s rooms or reserve one of the Historic Hotel’s premier balcony suites, which boast a queen-size pullout sofa and commanding views from a private lakefront balcony. The Lodges are elegantly furnished but have an Adirondack- style, laid back ambience. Need a little more space? The luxuri- ous Lodge Suites are like extended stay apartments with modern

kitchens that boast stainless steel appliances, beautiful cabinets and granite countertops. Relax with a cocktail on your private balcony while gazing over Lake George or enjoy a cozy evening in front of the gas fi replace. These elegant retreats also feature a contemporary dining alcove and spacious bathroom with a separate tub and walk-in shower. Feel like playing? The Rec is the largest indoor entertain- ment facility that I’ve seen at a resort and offers just about any- thing you…or more likely your children could possibly desire. Picture an indoor 18-hole mini golf course, half-court basket- ball, an offi cial Wiffl eball fi eld with working score board, Wii stations, billiards, ping-pong, foosball and a brand new Rock Climbing wall! And if that’s not enough, there is also an outdoor half-court basketball area, volleyball court, horseshoe pit and fi ve outdoor tennis courts. For the golf afi cionados, there is an award-winning, 1928 Donald Ross designed, 18-hole champi- onship golf course with Pro Shop. Looking to relax and rejuvenate – The Sagamore’s newly
renovated spa offers amazing spa treatments ranging from Stone Therapy to a Green Island Sugar Scrub. Or you can relax at the private beach area which offers a full-service marina, fi shing charters, water skiing and banana boat rides. There is even a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool. And there is a 3800 square foot Fitness Center with state-of-the-art exercise equip- ment and complimentary fi tness classes. But by far my favorite activity was a complimentary cruise on The Morgan, which is a 72-foot replica of a 19th century touring vessel that gives tours twice daily through the narrows of Lake George showcasing some of the best vistas in the Adirondacks.
