• The importance the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead places on rejuvenating town centres and the economic opportunities of the borough has been underlined by the appointment of a director of regeneration and economic development. Chris Hilton


joins the council this month from the London Borough of Croydon where he was senior regeneration manager. Hilton, a chartered surveyor with experience in the private and public sector, said: “There are some very exciting development schemes in the pipeline for Maidenhead town centre and I am particularly looking forward to ensuring that these are delivered to the highest possible standards.” Regeneration is a major issue in the Royal Borough, especially in Maidenhead where the council is actively working with partner organisations to bring about much-needed and wanted rejuvenation in the town centre.


• Handelsbanken, the relationship bank for local businesses and individuals, has appointed Mark Bradbury to manage its branch in Slough. With over 30 years in banking and firm roots in the community, Bradbury will lead an established team of experienced bankers, responsible for meeting the individual needs of a growing range of customers in and around Slough, Windsor and Gerrards Cross.


• Karl Wingfield, chief executive at leading Buckinghamshire-based law firm B P Collins LLP, has been elected as the new president/lead ambassador of Buckinghamshire Chamber of Commerce (part of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Group), replacing Alastair Pike. Wingfield joined B P Collins in 2006 and, as a member of the firm’s board, is responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s strategy and for running the firm on a day-to-day basis. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Institute of Directors and Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners.

• Henmans Freeth LLP solicitors has continued the expansion of its rapidly-growing teams with the recruitment of two further lawyers. Thomas Dixon (left) joins from Plexus Law as a solicitor in the personal injury department. Dixon specialises in product liability, occupier's liability and employer's liability claims. Paul Brown (right) joins as a solicitor in the firm’s high-profile dispute resolution department having previously worked at Spratt Endicott. Brown’s previous experience was in contract disputes, invoice discounting/factoring and debt recovery. He will be taking on an increasingly-varied caseload including contested probate, professional indemnity, property litigation and commercial disputes.


• Margaret Henry has been appointed head of PR at Adaptimmune and Immunocore, the sister biotechnology companies developing potential breakthrough treatments based on using the body’s own immune system to fight cancer. These rapidly-growing companies are based in Oxfordshire and Adaptimmune also has a US operation.

• Parrott & Coales LLP has appointed local solicitor and employment law expert Albert Bargery to head up the employment services division. Bargery will


use his experience in employment law to support organisations, businesses and individuals on a range of contentious and non- contentious employment matters such as employment contracts, redundancies, maternity rights, unfair dismissal, discrimination and transfer of undertakings (TUPE). He will also be responsible for growing the firm's employment division which is already making headway with its fixed-fee advice service and its retainer scheme.
