privilege to welcome you to the CHGP at Cana- dian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). This is VARAC’S 35th vintage racing festival, once again being held at what most pro drivers con- sider one of the fastest and most challenging tracks in North America, formerly known of course as Mosport International Raceway. For those of you who have not been here for a while I’m sure you were surprised and im- pressed with all the changes to the park as you came through the gates. Congratulations to all at CTMP for the great job that is being done to improve Canada’s iconic racetrack. The Vintage Automobile Racing Association

of Canada (VARAC) is gearing up for what promises to be the biggest, most exciting and best-attended event in its history. The Cana- dian Historic Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious events on the Vintage and Historic Racing Calendar in North America and it is the largest and most popular event of its kind in Canada and counted as a “Major Spectator Event” at Mosport since 1999. This year’s feature is the “Triumph vs. MG

Can-Am Challenge” as VARAC steps back in time to recreate the epic battle for sportscar

s president of the Vintage Automobile Rac- ing Association of Canada it is my great

supremacy between British manufacturers – Standard Triumph and MG Cars. CTMP tarmac has seen that battle play out decade after decade and now, VARAC is staging what prom- ises to be the largest ever such contest in its 2014 Triumph vs. MG Can-Am Challenge. This year, racing fans will once again be thrilled to witness a huge grid of Triumphs and MGs pi- loted by drivers from across Canada and the US, returning to claim victory as they challenge the CTMP tarmac and each other once again. VARAC is proud to be able to have Bob Tul-

lius as Grand Marshal for 2014. Tullius began his career in a Triumph TR3 and his world fa- mous Group 44 Inc. became the leaders in North American motorsport and the face of Tri- umph, Jaguar, British Leyland. Tullius had an enviable winning record and many champi- onships including victories right here at this very track. This weekend you will see racers from across

Canada and the United States racing their MGs, Triumphs, Jaguars, Porsches, Alfa Romeos, Lotus, Minis and more to challenge this world famous racetrack. CTMP is one of only three true historic Grand Prix tracks in North Amer- ica, along with Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec and Watkins Glen in upstate New York.

CTMP is an awesome, technically demanding, fast 2.459-mile track with challenging corners and impressive elevation changes. It is the cur- rent and former host to world-class racing such as ALMS, the NASCAR Truck Series and the For- mula One Grand Prix of Canada, Can-Am, Trans-Am and Formula 5000. I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to Cana-

dian Historic Grand Prix director Bob DeShane and everyone who makes this weekend possi- ble. To all my fellow Vintage racers, GOOD RAC- ING, keep a smile on your face and the shiny side up!
