shop with Mike Fitch in London, then had to submit a DVD of myself demonstrating the movements and teaching someone a flow of my own design. I gave it a go and loved it. I also found it highly effective and a fun way to keep in shape.’ Animal Flow is the brainchild of Mike Fitch, the creator of Global Body Weight Training who spent many years working out with traditional weight training methods. Although he would have been considered to be incredibly fit by most people’s standards, in fact he found his joints ached, he was constantly compensating for new pains and he couldn’t move his body in the way he wanted to. So he put down the dumbbells and entered the world of ‘bodyweight’ training - using the weight of your own body instead of hand or leg-operated devices. At the same time Mike spent a lot of time observing the

movements of animals in the wild. He was struck in particular by the power and stability he saw in quadrapedul movement and he was reminded of how important crawling is for a child in its development. ‘Using all of your limbs at the same time through multiple planes of motion, as they

were intended, has a carry- over to power, strength, endurance and fat loss,’ says Mike. For more information on Animal Flow or personal training or up-coming fit camps covering a number of fitness disciplines, contact Atlantis Leisure or visit atlantisleisure.co.uk.
