BUSINESS A 2K’S SECURITY

N ARGYLL-based se- curity company that

has clients all over the UK believes its services are required closer to home, following an increase in travelling criminals in the area. 2K’S Security, headed up by former military policeman Kenny Knox, who lives in Lo- chawe, specialises in manned guarding of sites, mobile pa- trols and keyholding duties for owners of vacant properties, including holiday homes. Mr Knox ran a security com- pany on the south coast of England before moving back to Scotland to be nearer his family.

And after starting the business in April last year, he now has around 30 people working for him around the UK. Mr Knox said: ‘The sad thing about society these days is the type of crime we try to prevent is moving its way up the country. ‘It was happening a lot in the south of England but it is also happening in places like Ar- gyll. ‘There are people going around in vans looking for plant machinery, building ma- terials and empty homes they can take advantage of. ‘It is not as bad here yet as it is in other parts of the country but I’m trying to shut the sta-

ble door before the horse has bolted.’

Customers of 2K’S can get a reduction on their insurance premiums, as all the com- pany’s guards are registered with the Security Industry Au- thority (SIA). As well as site guarding and key holding, the company can be linked up to alarm sys- tems. 2K’S can also carry out a free, no obligation security check of a property or site. Mr Knox said the company would soon be looking to re- cruit more staff and would welcome applications from ex-servicemen or those used to shift work.
