• Andrew Finney has been appointed president of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, following the passing of former president Dick Oram late last year. Adrian Leach, director of Hampshire Chamber, has stood in as chair during the interregnum. Finney is a successful businessman and well- known figure. After a successful career in a variety of roles, he became MD of HCR Group in Basingstoke. He is chairman of the board at Anvil Arts, a member of the LEP Enterprise M3, a past board member of SEEDA and former leader of Basingstoke and Deane District Council, where he was a member for 10 years and in the Cabinet for seven.
• Professor Van Gore, vice-chancellor at Southampton Solent University, has been honoured with a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by HRH Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. Gore received his title for services to higher education – he helped to gain university status for Solent in 2005 and led the institution through its formative years to forge a new and distinctive kind of university. Gore has also been instrumental in forging a closer relationship with the city of Southampton, employers and the wider community.
• Rapidly-expanding telecoms company OneCom has appointed experienced chief financial officer Richard Schafer. A former finance director at Vodafone, he joins with a brief to ensure that the firm is well-placed to capitalise on its recent period of expansion and to continue its push into unified communciations. Schafer brings 14 years’ experience in the mobile sector to OneCom, based in Whiteley, which is a key partner of Vodafone. He began his career in the industry with Three when it launched in 2000 and headed up several major projects there. He later joined Vodafone, and was most recently chief financial officer at Viacloud Group UK.
• Hampshire and Isle of Wight law firm Glanvilles LLP boasts four recent additions to the firm. Joining the private client team as a senior solicitor is Darren Price (left). An experienced solicitor and member of The Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners (STEP), he specialises in all aspects of private client work. Price is based at the firm’s office in Fareham, and joins from Paris Smith LLP. Glanvilles has also strengthened its business and commercial services team with the appointment of Mathew Bridger (right), a commercial lawyer with significant experience in all aspects of commercial work. He is based at the firm’s Newport office and joins as a senior associate from Thomas Eggar. More recent appointments are Damien Newton who joins as partner and Akbar Shah as solicitor.
• Eco Sustainable Solutions has appointed Peter Hardy to the board as commercial director. Formerly commercial manager, he first joined the Dorset- based organics recycling and renewable energy firm shortly after it was founded in 1993. The company, which employs 46 people, owns and operates the UK’s leading purpose-built site for organics recycling and renewable energy generation, and currently processes 250,000 tonnes of organic material each year across four facilities.
• IT managed service provider Amicus ITS is celebrating a recordbreaking year as its turnover exceeds £20 million. On the back of this growth the Southampton- based firm has made two new appointments to its senior management team. Les Keen, director of sales, joins from the IT services industry where he headed up a sales operation providing technical innovation and solutions to the NHS. Alan Meldrum, finance manager, joins from the financial services industry, with 11 years at KPMG and extensive accounting experience in industries including IT and retail.

• Bennington Green, a leading property consultancy based in Dorset, has welcomed another building surveyor to its increasing team of professionals. Sam Downing, currently a studying member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and due to become chartered later this year, has joined from a FTSE 100 company. His previous experience was predominantly within the education and housing sectors where he was responsible for a mixture of building surveying duties, and he is used to working to BREEAM’s strict requirements.
• Law firm Lester Aldridge has bolstered its south coast presence with the appointment of two new associates: Erika Willmott (pictured) and Charlotte Mitchell. Willmott joins the real estate team, based at the Southampton office, and is experienced in non- contentious commercial property work. Mitchell joins the dispute resolution team at the Bournemouth office. She specialises in commercial litigation and is also a non- practising barrister.
