With its sweeping driveway, pretty tiled hallway and an impressive walnut-panelled library overlooking the large south-facing terrace, Oakley Hall truly is a hidden treasure among the rolling countryside of North Hampshire


Set in over 300 acres of Hampshire countryside, Oakley Hall has recently been beautifully restored to its former glory and is now the perfect venue for any wedding, business meeting, special occasion or a luxurious country getaway.


The venue offers 18 elegant courtyard bedrooms in the converted 18th-century stable block, along with a three-bedroom gingerbread-style cottage. All bedrooms have been individually designed and furnished to a high standard.


Whether guests decide to enjoy afternoon tea in one of the beautiful


lounges, drinks on the terrace, a gourmet picnic in the gardens or dinner in the award-winning two AA Rosette restaurant, absolute quality is inherent in every mouthful. Oakley Hall attributes the high quality of its cuisine to strong partnerships with local suppliers – ensuring the freshest ingredients.


The Winchester Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, and during the summer months a lounge menu is also available, serving an assortment of sandwiches and light bites which can be enjoyed alfresco on the beautiful garden terrace.


For weddings Oakley Hall provides a perfect setting for couples celebrating the most romantic day of their lives together. With a choice of six ceremony and wedding breakfast rooms and a magnificent permanent marquee adjoining the main house through a glass walkway, the venue is able to provide the perfect day regardless of the size of party.


The terrace at the back of the Hall overlooks a sunken garden and pond with a striking fountain. An extensive lawn stretches into a woodland of mature trees – beech, yew, wellingtonia, blue cedar and


oak – some of which are over 200 years old. This in turn leads to spectacular rolling views over the grounds to the fields beyond. Guests discover the ha ha wall and the ornamental pond as they wander through the woodlands and catch a glimpse of how the gardens once were.

At the time of going to print, 11 college bands from across Hampshire are competing for the chance to play at a major sporting event this summer, courtesy of Southampton Solent University’s annual music competition.


A stadium support slot during a T20 cricket match at the Ageas Bowl is the top prize at the University–run Solent Sound.


Music students from across the region are performing in Southampton Solent University’s state-of-the-art television studio.

The event is being filmed in front of a live audience and judged by a panel of industry experts including A&R manager Giles Stanley; writer and music producer Paul Statham; and Professor Paul Rutter, programme group leader for popular music at the University.

Sound have had mentoring and guidance from students on the BA (Hons) popular music performance and BA (Hons) popular music production degree courses, to prepare them for the competition.


The colleges taking part are: Andover College, Basingstoke College of Technology, Bournemouth & Poole College, City College Brighton & Hove, Fareham College, Itchen Sixth Form College, Portsmouth College, Queen Mary’s College, Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, St Vincent College and Wiltshire College.
