can benefit from meeting new people, travelling, reading, pursuing lots of different hobbies and then approaching training in a much more mature and open way. I, on the other hand, was very impatient and focused, so started training straight after school. Whatever works for you, as long as you are committed and prepared to work hard. Another thing that people always say to you when you want to become an actor is to ‘have a backup’. I would say don’t have a backup!! If you want to do this as a career then you have to believe you will be able to do it and if it doesn’t go to plan then at least you gave it your all, but if you start off with a backup plan then you are already preparing for when it fails. If you are determined and talented and passionate about it then you should just go for it, in my opinion. Good luck!
Q. What memories do you have of early life in Clevedon?
A. I have such amazing memories of growing up in Clevedon! It is such a beautiful little town and I still come back as often as I can to see my family. It is a lovely contrast to London, having the sea and the peace and quiet... Clevedon offers such a wide range of things to do growing up - all the things I experimented with when I was younger - karate, piano, ballet, theatre, were all available to
me within a short distance and I loved being near to the beach and playing outside with friends when I was little, roller-skating along the seafront and collecting slow worms or making mud pies. After I have finished a long job away the first thing I want to do is come back home and see my family, everything is so familiar and it always puts a smile on my face when I drive off the motorway into Clevedon, past the Clock Tower and along the beach (in case the tide is in)... then home to all the faces I love!
Q. What projects do you have on the horizon for us to look forward to?
A. Well the biggest one coming out this year (2014) is ‘Jupiter Ascending’ which is an American sci-fi film I did starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum. That is due out this Summer, so I am really excited about that. I am also in an ITV special about the Great War early this year and in March I have a film coming out called ‘A Long Way Down’ which is based on a Nick Hornby book. Then later in the year I have a small part in ‘The Imitation Game’ a film about Alan Turing. It has been a busy year and I am thanking my lucky stars that I am able to do this job and have such amazing experiences, fingers crossed it will continue... but I am always grateful to come back to Clevedon when I am ‘resting’!!
Look out for Tuppence in ‘A Long Way Down’ released on March 7th 2014, ‘Jupiter Ascending’ released on 25th July 2014; as well a ‘The Imitation Game’, which is also released later on in the year.
