TUBE 2014 Tube Düsseldorf 2014 preview
Easy handling in the pipeline with Combilift The world’s biggest trade fair is just around the corner.
I
rish specialist forklift manufacturer Combilift Ltd now produces a wide range of customised handling solutions, from pedestrian pallet stackers with a capacity of 1,5t up to straddle carriers which can transport oversized loads weighing 50 tonnes. All of these are designed for safe and space saving handling, and the exhibits at this year’s Tube 2014 are a small selection of the company’s 4-way products which can simplify and rationalise the transportation and storage of the long and bulky loads
typically encountered in the tube and pipe sector. Two models from their original core C Series will be on show – a 5 t C5000 XL model with high ground clearance and very roomy cab and a larger heavier duty 8t C8000. These robust trucks have for years been the forklift of choice for companies dealing with long and heavy products: their ability to work inside and out and on uneven terrain in all weathers makes them robust and reliable workhorses for universal applications in the yard and warehouse. Sideways travel
with loads resting on the platform also offers greater stability and safer manouevering. The award winning compact counterbalance design 4-way Combi-CB completes the line up. This was designed for operations that need to handle a mix of pallets and long loads and is now available with load capacities of up to 4t.
Combilifts work as

offloading raw materials, during the manufacturing process, through to the storage and dispatch of finished product. They are available with LPG, diesel or electric power together with a wide range of options and attachments to suit individual operational requirements.

A strong steel solution debuts at wire 2014
Steeltec AG, will introduce the micro-alloy material solution to industry professionals for the first time. With a fatigue limit under
tension stresses of 400 MPa, it is ideally suited to precision parts subjected to dynamic transverse loading and high internal pressure. Presentations on HSX® Z10 as well as the new, modular HSX® 90 material concept round off the Steeltec AG information offerings at the group’s stand number A16 in hall 17. High-strength and higher-
strength special steels are the main area of specialization of Steeltec, manufacturers of bright steels. “Delivering strength, versatility and innovation – this is our motto every day, not just for the trade fair,” explains Guido Olschweski, Head of Quality Management and Development at Steeltec. “With our new ferrite-perlitic HSX®

Z10 steel we have developed an efficient solution for heavy-duty applications in the automotive, manufacturing and engineering, and hydraulics industries.” The steels easily meet the demands to which, for example, shafts or pump parts are subjected, specifically transverse loads and
high internal pressure. In its as- delivered condition, it has a tensile strength of approx. 950 MPa and an elongation after fracture of 12%. The fatigue strength of 400 MPa under a circumferential bending load demonstrates the material’s excellent dynamic loading capacity, made possible

by selected micro-alloy elements. “The carbon content at 0.3% is relatively low,” says Olschewski. This makes HSX® Z10 ideally suited for welding, but also for surface hardening. A value of 55 HRC can be achieved through induction hardening. Another advantage that is characteristic of all high-strength and higher- strength special steels from Steeltec: compared to standard quenched and tempered steels, no additional production stages are needed such as downstream heat treatment and subsequent additional processing stages such as reshaping, grinding, and deburring. The result is shorter production and cycle times. Parts costs drop noticeably.
